Monday, 1st. June. I Before J» Vivian-Williams Esq. P.M. | Illegally on Peemises : Thomas Miller, on remand from the 28th May, on the above charge, was discharged. Breach of section 80 Licensing Act of 1895: The police proceeded against Charles Wm, McConachy for a breach of the above act. Mr. Bonrke appeared for the defendant and admitted the singing, bnt denied that there was any public singing, and public singing waa iiot mentioned in the infor mation. Sub-Inspector Coopor, for the police,' contended that scction 48 of the Justice Act, and 128 of the Licensing Act admits of any amendment in the information. The information was amended accord ingly. The evidenco of the police went to show that on the 19th May last at 10 45 p.m., singing was going on in the dining room of the Carriers' Arms Hotel. Sporting Column. Tho Queensland Turf Glab Autumn Race Meeting was concluded at Eagle Farm on Saturday, Jin the presence of a good attendance. The investments through the totalisator reached to over £3000, making a grand total for tho mat ing of about £9000. The principal race of tho day was ilia More ton Handicap, and this won by Mr. J. Finnie's colfc Newhold, Narcissus being second, and Soldan third. The Auatarlian cricketers won the match against Lancashire by 154 rang. In tbeir second innings the Australians scored 139 and Lancashire 98.
