Sudden Death at North Deniliquin. A CORONIAL INQUIRY. On Wednesday morning 'ast a woman named Hester McKay, residing in Davidson - street, North Deniliquin, died suddenly. The coroner, Mr F. \V. Garstang, P.M., was informed of the occurrence, and he ordered tliat an inquiry be Held. This took place in the afternoon at the Victoria Hotel before Mr Garstaupr and a jury of five, when the following evidence was taken : — Constable Kelton deposed : I am stationed at North Deniliquin. At about 7.30 this morning from information received I wenl to the residence of Alexander Robert McKay, and there saw the body of deceased, Hester McKay, lying across the bed dead. I made an examination of the body, but could find no marks of violence ; and 1 afterwards reported the death to the coroner. The body was dressed in a chemise, petticoat and skirt. The deceased had apparently been sleeping on the bed at right angles. Oue leg was hanging out and the other doubled under neath her. By the appearance ...

Sporting Memsr I BY WliLliESLEY.l Lygou. by Gozc from Cerise and Blue, has beca sold by Mr Oxeulisun to Mr T. Kelly, who is uuder stood to be acting in t!-e matter for a Queensland sportsman. Messrs Gaxieu, BeaJes, ami Cranney, who opened a subscription list at Tattersall's Club on behalf of the Imperial'soldiers who were injured when firing a. cannon at the Agricultural Grounds, have obtained the sum of £126 10s. The list is now closed. The Warwick Farm stewards having concluded the rehearing in tha case of the jockey S. Oallinan have forwarded the evidence on to the A.J.C. com mittee. All the fresh evidence, recorded was on Calliuan'6 behalf. The stewards have not seen fit to in anyway vary their original decision. Roscointnon has changed hands, but the son of Sunrise and Roseueath still remains in- Brewer's stable. Mr P. Boiger has sold Le Var privately to TVIackay Bros., on condition that be is used for stud purposes only. 250 guineas has been refused for Flintlock. The Onlsapar...

Notes from Various Sources. | The tragedy of war was never more fully revealed (ihe ' Canadian Gazette ' of December 6 says) than in the case of Private Molloy, of the Canadian Mounted Infantry, who was shot through the head irom lempje to temple at LJronkhurst Spruit and has lost the sight of both eyes. At the call of the mother country he gave up a promising career in a Canadian Uni versity, and proceeded with his fellow countrymen to light the Empire's battles in South Africa. Though fate has been so unkind to him, he bears his misfortune With heroic fortitude, and the words which he spoke before leaving Liverpool a week ago for home 30 of his invalided soldiers are the words of a true soldier. ' I have no regrets for the past,' he said. 'I think if a man decides that a course is right and has followed that course out, he has no right to regret afterwards whatever the consequences may be..
