COUNTRY NEWS. FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENTS. ISISORD, August 21. [Newspaper Article] — The Western Champion — 6 September 1879

COUNTRY NEWS. FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENTS. ISISFORD, August 21. I HAVE just come in to Isisford after a trip to the Far West, and was most agreeably surprised when passing Ruthven station, to notice the extensive improvements that have been made since the property came into the possession of the present owners, Messrs. H. and J, Grice. The head station, which is situated on a sandridge that runs along the Barc00 for some distance, consists of the manager's house, made entirely of sawn stuff, bachelors' quarters, kitchen, and store, also made of sawn stuff ; then there is a black- smith's shop, carpenter's shop, men's hut, and a fine roomy thatched cabin for the Kanakas employed on the station. The woolshed, which is on a small creek about a mile from the station, is built almost entirely of sawn timber, and boree in the rough. It affords accommodation for from 20 to 30 shearers, and it is well ventilated. The wool-scouring establishment is about a mile from the shed, and is under th...
