OMAHA, Neb., April 17.—A general strike of shop employes of the Union Pacific Railroad was inaugurated at noon to-day. It is estimated that the etrike will involve 3,000 men, strung out half across the continent from Omaha to Portland, Ore. There are large forces at Cheyenne, Rawlins, Laramie, Salt Lake and Ogden. A somewhat similar transcontinental etrike, but hardly of such mammoth proportions has been in progress on the Santa Fe system for nearly a week. Six hundred men in the Union Pa- cific shops iiere struck at noon. The men who went out were the machinists, boiler-makers, blacksmiths, molders and pattern-makers. ARKANSAS.CITY, KntJ., Apiil 20.—A dis- patch from Vonca Agency, I. T., reports that yesterday afternoon at 5 o'clock a cyclone visited that vicinity and that eix people were' killed. They were Jack Keithloy, wife and two children and Charles Jackson, of Kansas, who wan visiting the Keith- leys, Two other Keithlev children were injured. Keithley lived in a houso on Bleyin's ftmeh, eleven miles southeast of Ponca. The house was completely demolished.
