Campus Appoints New Instructor At the start of the second semestej a new instructor was added to th< staff of the Hazleton Center. Mr W. Lewis Shetler came here from Stat( College to teach the Psychology anc Education courses that are offeree during the last half. Mr. Shetler is a graduate of Pennsylvania State College and taught college physics for three years before coming to Hazleton. Listed in his previous experience is three yearf spent with the Civilian Conservation Corps as Educational Advisor; he was statistician for the Adult School in Williamsport; and he has also been associated with the Department of Public Instruction of Harrisburg. Besides being able to teach the subjects already mentioned, Mr. Shetler is alsc qualified to teach high school mathematics, chemistry and general science He was one of a group of thirtyseven members of the Penn Statt Glee Club that toured abroad in 1928 Since coming here Mr. Shetler has become actively associated with the Glee C...

Staff Returns From Faculty Confab The faculty of the Hazleton Undergraduate Center returned Sunday, April 16, from DuBois where they spent three days at the first Inter-Center Faculty Conference. The purpose of the conference was to study undergraduate procedures in academic and extra-curricular activities and to promote a better feeling of understanding between the faculty members of the Undergraduate Centers. The group discussed common aims and analyzed problems that were relative to the accomplishment of these aims. The conference was attended also by Mr. David B. Pugh, Supervisor of Undergraduate Centers. Dr. Herbert L. Spencer, President of the Pennsylvania College for Women, addressed the assembled educators on the subject: "How Education Promotes Security in a Modern World." If this year's conference is judged a success, it is planned to make it an annual one. AMBASSADORS ENGAGED FOR FRIDAY The Penn State Undergraduate Center of Hazleton will hold its annual Spring Dance, Friday, April 28, in the Altamont ballroom. Dancing will start at nine o'clock to the music of Eddie Kahn's Ambassadors and will continue until one. This is the second of three semiformal affairs sponsored by the student body of the Center this year and is open to public attendance.
