THE _SEMINARY _Af 4 D THE COIiLiECE . The relation between the Theological Seminary and Pennsylvania College , both located at Gettysburg , , has been and is very close . The latter was founded by the first Professor in the former , and during its entire history the College has had warm friends and efficient trustees among the professors of the Seminary . Nearly thirty years ago the College found a President in the Seminary , and at one time the two institutions held a profcssoiship between them . On the contraiy the the Seminary has found two professors in the College , and all the professors in the Seminary at this time are alumni of the College Also a very large proportion , certainly many more than half of the young men who have studied theology in the Seminary , received academic training in the College . The two institutions have in the main the same end in view . The Seminary is directly engaged in preparing young men for the ministry . The prime object for which the College ...

He often had funerals on Sunday besides three regular services , and dtove from five to twenty miles . THE _THEORETICAL ETHICS by Di . Valentine , as has been stated , was used by the present Senior class They have completed then study of it and the final examination was held on Thursday of last week . They have found the work to be very clearly wiitten and to be veiy _bucf and concise in the discussion of the various subjects treated of in the book It is indeed a compendious view of the ethical facts and principles and a moic extensive discussion would mciease intetcst The Fact of Moral Distinctions has been given a very full discussion and its universality is proven beyond reasonable doubt . Likewise all the other subjects treated of aie well stated and defined . The book is as compichensivc as it was intended to be and gives the complete ethical view . The student finds much is made of the moial perceptions and the consequent obligations ; but when he asks himself what obligation is , its natuic , etc ., he docs not find the discussion as full as he would like to have it . DR . RICHARD in Ins article in tins number sets forth more than one essential reason why the College and Scmmaiy should go hand in hand . And it is especially giatifying that along with his forcible discussion there can be seen living pi oofs of these facts . How appropi late and fitting is it that the two Commencements aie to be held during the same week and that our vcnciablc theologian , Dr . Valentine , D . D ., LL . D ., has been chosen and will preach a baccalaureate sermon on the fifth Sunday of this month to the joint giaduating classes of the College and Seminary . THE BASE BALL SEASON , although , on account of the early Commencement it will be somewhat curtailed this year , bids fair to be a very successful one . A number of haid games are in the future but the confidence of the boys , in the ability of the nine to cope with with our opponents , is unbounded . Mention must be made of the improvement of the team in hitting the ball . The game of last Saturday was quite int...

BASE BALiLt . The game last Satuiday with the Indians resulted in a victory for Gettysburg by the scoie of 5 to 3 . As the game with the Indians here on Saturday , May 1 st , had to be called off in the fouith inning on account of the rain , the Carlisle boys kindly consented to play another game here . It was an ideal day for a base ball game and the Nixon Field held the biggest crowd of the season The game was a pitcher s battle from stait to finish and was intensely interesting . The features of the game weie : the home run hit of Burns ; the playing of White , Dale , Leisenring and Tate for the home team ; for the visitors , Hudson , Shelafo and Buckhart excelled . The following is the score in detail : GI . TTVSUURC . K . H . O . A . l ; . INDIANS . K II . O . A K .
