XZ CoL..Torp, tho ablo President of the Memphis division of our Railroad, visited this place, a few days ago, with the avowed design of effecting a consolidation of the two divisions Memphis and Clarksville. This consolidation as every one knows has been talked about Tor two years past, and every board of directors elected hero has been expected to effect it, but, although it in a vital necessity with both us and Mem phis, it has not yet been accomplished. The difficulty in the way, we need hardly my, has been as to where wo shall cross Tennessee river. We wished to go to Cane Creek, or Mo. of Leathewtfod, but Memphis wanted us to go to the Mo. of Sandy. The alleged reason of Memphis' predilection for Mo. of Sandy was that Henry Co. bad subscribed 1200,000 stock In the road conditional on our crossing at that point.
