Items of News. ' The Michigan Legislature at its last ses sion appropriated $10,000 to Kansas. Tbe Queen of Great Britain bas coniand ed that a medal be granted to aU persons, of every rank and class, who have been en gaged m the several expepitiona to the Ar tie rigeons, whether of discovery or search, between the years 1818 and 1855, both in clusive. In view of tbe drowning condition of Albany, the Staietman suggests that appli cation he made to the Legislature to change the name of that city to Watertown. The entire family of Judge Pitcher, of ift. Vernon, IntL, consisting of six or eight persons, were poisoned from eating bread containing some poisonous matter, which was mistaken for cream of tartar by the servant girl who made it.
