Thmutlbonbille bidi. Some of the Different Kinds of Men. BY SOL. X. LEE. Men are more alike than women. There seem to be certain laws or fixed rules which regulate the former, while the latter may be said to constitute an infinite conglomeration of varieties. THE THOROUGH-GOING BUSINESS MAN is rather an amusing study. His notes never go to protest-in fact he seldom gives any. He is not likely to be pop ular with school-girls or imaginative young ladies-there is not enough of the "free lance" about him. A wom an does not like to receive a sprawly letter on common paper, commenciug "Yours of the 14th instant came to hand this date." If you chance to be extravagantly dressed, your intense business friend regards you reprov ingly, as one who would say, " One half the expense of that suit of clothes and that watch and chain ought to be at interest." When traveling on bus iness he will sit up all night to save two dollars, and upon returning home subscribe (at the earnest solicitation of ...

~analb~anbiHe Q11ief. The Presidential Canvass. 1 Beticence of Congressmen-What They Think of Affairs-Fears for the Success i of the Reform Movemenat,-A Free I)is cussion. [From the New York Tribune.] WASIIImGTON, March 23.-No class of politicians is scanning the political horizon with so much care and anxiety as the Republican members of the House of Representatives. They read the newspapers with unusual attention, and the letters they receive from their constituents are no longer glanced at only to see what troublesome requests must be complied with, but are care fully perused for expressions of opin ion which may show the direction of the political wind at home.
