PII3T AT WAB. ( . pp) The established Church of -ngland is in a quandary. The Methodists from Wesley's time down, the Congregation alsts, Baptists and other dis meniers from her thirty-nine articles of faith, troubled her for years, but her grand strug gle doc~ not arise from out side opposition but from inter .al dissension. If the Church of England considered her po sition stronger on one point than another it was in her at ti ie ;as a church with a ritu al,'a"p*iesthood, and a primi tive origin unspotted "by the declensionss of popery," yet a church opposed to the pagan elements reintroduced to the people of ome in the shape of saint and virgin wor ship. Unluckily it turns out, as a result of experience, that the Church of England, in stead of being a way of escape from Romanism to primitive worship and belief, is a bridge by which weak Protestants find the wa,to the very fold for safety from which the Church of England was to be a sort of insurance society, backed by state powe...

THE MOLLIESI -I Tau MOL.ums ONLY SooTCaED, NOT KILLED. LCinokmnat Enqpuirer.] PaI.4DarLPHA, June 23-All. naccoounts from the mining districts agree that the Mollie Maguires are scotched, not killed, and the good citizens of Schuylkill. Carbon, Columbia and Luzerne counties are greatly animated by rumors of plot ting for revenge. Nor are the rnu more all that alarms them. Since the executions of last Thursday several deeds of violence that are almost directly traced to the murderous Mollies have occurred. One of these is the murder of William Conner, a respectable man, whose body has been found near White haven, and another the brutal as sassination of John Grady, a non affiliated miner employed in one of the Lehigh collieries. As yet, however, there has been no genera al uprising such as was dreaded, and little indication of what may be the specific plan of the friends of the hanged murderers. Still the authorities are on the alert, and detectives are scattered through the suspected...

THE NEW ERA. I*EAcE IN LomU1alsn--VIGOR OF TIIE NznoL.s GovERMETrr. The New Orleans correspondent I of the New York World writes as follows : I have just returned from a trip through the interior of the State. On my way home I passed through the parish of West Feliciana, once the home of the bulldozers. It was the picture of peace. The fields promise a hqavy yield of cotton, as the negroes are working better than they have done since emanci, pation. In fact, a wonderful change has come over these people in the last six months. They were told that if the Democrats attained power their first act would be to re-enslave the negro. But Nich oils has been it power for six months, and no enslavement has taken place. 'On the contrary, the law is being most rigidly en forced, and their rights, lives and property better protected than they ever were under Republican rule.
