Lovely Valley Correspondence Will give you a few items from this beautiful valley. 'The farmers have been busy plowing. There was a little sprinkle of snow Sunday. We would like to see a good rain. Jack Smith sold his place to Frank Shenold. Frank is lookign for his folks from Oklahoma this week. He is well satisfied with New Mexico. Mrs. Cainfield also has a light attack of pneumonia, but we are glad to say that at this writing she is improving. We are glad to learn that there is one in our country who is inter ested in farm life, and that is "Old Hayseed." 1 know of nothing better which will cause the farmer to take more interest in raising good crops and fine cattle and hogs, than a free exhibit at a coun ty fair each fall. Sa.n Jon Items Correspondence This is the 26th of February and the wild flowers are blooming. San Jon people are surely get ting thicker. Mr. Home sold out of several articles, Saturday. Home Bros, are doing a good business. The telephone line will soon connect with San Jon, besides sev eral farm houses. Puerto Pickings Correspondence : As I was tardy last week, 1 will try and give you a few facts from here. It is getting too drv for the far mers to plow, so they are now fenc ing and otherwise improving their claims. We have a class of industrious farmers here who realize that even if they can't plow at times they can do other work on the farm. Some of our people will put out fruit trees this spring. E. S. Jenkins Fiat Happenings COKKUSI'ONDKNCH.I As our old representative has left us, and taken up his abode in the "Lovely Valley," we will just drop you a line to remind you that "Old Jink-ins' Flat" is the only place in our mind's eye this side of the "promised land," and we have been over some of the United States and also a little out side of Uncle Sam's domain, yet, we are just "new-comers" to these parts. We are well pleased with the gen eral appearance of the country, the fertility of the soil, the healthful climate, the picturesque scenery, etc. We note with pleasure the neigh borly and friendly feeling existing between the people of this commu nity, which, we believe is one of the most essential requisites toward the development of a new country.
