THE WOOL CLIP. Dalgety's Review. We have received a copy of Dalgety's Annual Wool lie view for Australasia, which contains an exhaustive summary of everything relating to the past season's clip and the marketing of same. The publication is in its sixteenth year of issue, and deals comprehensively not only with the past clip, but also with many branches of the industry connected with wool. The number of sheep esti mated to have been shorn was 109,092,20-1 head, including lambs, which produced 7.87 lbs. per head (including lambs) as against 71bs. for the previous season. A splendid average monetary return of fi/4 per head was realised, the total wealth produced by the flocks in wool alone being £34,959,4(53. The oversea exports of wool, plus quantity retained in the Com monwealth and New Zealand for manufacturing purposes, give a total of 2,639,280 bales, which makes the clip slightly bigger than the record one of t"he season 1911-12. Sheepmasters of Australasia are congratulated upon...

MEAT SUPPLIES FOK AMERICA. [Newspaper Article] — Corryong Courier — 6 August 1914

MEAT SUPPLIES FOK AHIGKICA. A few years ago thereat meat com panies of the U.S.A. realised that that country would .--our. he u meat-importing I instead of an exporting country, so that they naturally looked elsewhere for supplies, and established works in the Argentine, where they have been operating for some years, and so far with good rather llian ill effects to all but their competitors, who, prior to their advent into the business, were enabled to buy their fat stock supplies much more cheaply, and consequently make large profits for their shareholders, most of whom lived and spent their dividends out of the country. 1'at stock prices are considered to be ex ceedingly high in Australia this year, but our herd and llockmasters, whilst receiving returns far eclipsing those obtainable in previous precarious times, are still yet selling fat cattle at far below prices enjoyed by their South American competitors.
