Latest Telegrams. LONDON, Sunday. [Newspaper Article] — The Wyalong Star and Temora and Barmedman Advertiser — 31 July 1894

Latest Telegrams. London, Sunday. Through the sinking of the Chineso transport by a Japanese warship, 800 Chinese were drowned. The capture of tho King of Corea is confirmed. It in expected that the Government will apply the cloture to the majority ot the amendments in the Irish Evicted Tenants' Bill of which notice has been given. There is no prospect of the Bill being passed in the House of Lords. Detachments of French troops have killed five hundred natives in West. Africa, the French loss being nine killed, and one hundred and fifty wonnded. Tho French Senate passed the Anarchist Suppression Bill by a large [ majority. Another engagement has taken place between Japanese and Chinese troops. The Chinese were defeated with heavy loss. The Japanese gun boats have captured a Chinese war ship. The Chinese force iu Corea is reported to be badly organised. The Princess of Wales and her daughters will visit St. Petersburg, to be present at the marriage of the eldest daughter of the Czar....

Resignation of the Ministry? [Newspaper Article] — The Wyalong Star and Temora and Barmedman Advertiser — 31 July 1894

Resignation of the Ministry/ Just before going to press .we re ceived a wire that the Duma' Min istry had resigned, and that Mb. G. II. Reid had been sent for. The announcement, will not canse much astonishment, and there can be little donbt that the Ministry have adopted the proper course. There was 110 apparent possibility of their beinir able to continue in office for any length of time. and. knowinsr this. they would only fjive their opponents an opportunity of confirming their oft repeated charge, namely, that the Dibbs Ministry were determined to stick to office till they were turned out. We do not see how Mr. G. H. Raid's claim to.be invited to form a Ministry cou/d be passed over, though Sir Henry Parkes has been endeavoring, recently, to e.itablishhis title to the position. Possibly, the wily veteran may yet have a' suffi ciently Btrong following to enable him to bring Mr. Reid to terms, but we do not think he will eonseut to play second fiddle iu a Freetrade Ministry. . , ...
