A SUNDAY ORGY THREE YOUNG MEN FINED On Monday, at the Footscrny Court, three young men named Robert J. Teasdals, John Clarke and Edward Hale were charged with offensive behaviour. Evidence was given by Constable Henncssy that at half past eleven on Sunday morning, in conse quence of complaints, witness, in company with Senior-constable Fricker, went to the .Hopkins street bridge, and there saw- the defendants, who were in a half drunken condition, drinking beer out of a bottle using bad language, and otherwise behaving offensively. Mr Mitchell, J.f., said that de fendants' conduct was disgraceful for a Sunday morning. Hale, who admitted a prior con viction, was fined £,5 in default fourteen days' imprisonment'. The other two defendants were each fined £2. or seven days' im prisonment

STOLE TOBACCO CAPTURE AFTER CHASE FINE.uF £3 IMPOSED At Monday's Footscray Court, Henry Curry, a middle-aged man, was charged with having stolen six tins of tobacco, valued at 4/6. the property of Catherine Bell, j storekeeper, ol 80 Somerville road, Yarraville. The evidence of informant. Mrs Catherine Bell, showed that on Friday morning, about 10 o'clock in the morning, ^ she: was in the' diningroom off the shop, when she heard footsteps, and on looking through the glass door saw a man in tjie shop. She entered and,saw defendmt behind the counter. She accused him of having some tins of tobacco, which he at first denied, but afterwards admitted, and tak ing the tins of tobacco from his pocket, said, "'I did it on the spur of,.the moment. Give me a chance?" Defendant then threw the tobacco on the counter and ran out of the shop. Mrs Bell called for assis tance. and a Mr Pater,son gave chase, and after a short run. cap tured defendant.
