A Wonderful Crop. [Newspaper Article] — Ouyen Mail and Central Mallee Advertiser — 16 October 1914

A Wonderful Crop. "Steele Blayde," horticultural editor of the Mildura "Cultivator", recently made a special trip to in- spect a wonderful crop of wheat hay, which is growing on the " dry" block of Mr R. Telford on the far end of the Velta (Merbein)   stock and domestic supply channel. We reprint the following extracts from the article dealing with the block . " We walked out into the beauti fully-cleared, well-fenced place, which is divided into four paddecks and is undoubtedly the most enter prisin:: demonstration' in dry blocks I have yet seen in this district. The first crop looked at was some 20 acres ,,f "Curly's Early," on fallow, and surprisingly green-a crop that could still be called "coming" rather than going back. The next crop was 25 acres of luscious green s:uff above the hips of a tall man! We stared at. it, and simply could not believe our evyes for a mo.nent or two. But the crop from which Mr Teiford stated he brought those sheaves to the Muldtra show w...
