THE CENTRAL DIVISION LEASES. [To the Editor of the LISEEAL.) [Newspaper Article] — The Dubbo Liberal and Macquarie Advocate — 31 March 1894

THE CENTRAL DIVISION LEASES. [To the Editor of tht LIBBBAL.) Sir,-The time is fast approaching wrier tanlesg Parliament interferes, tho whole o the Crown leases in the Central DÍVÍBÍOI 'will have become terminated, and thi various lessees compelled to rehnquist their holdings. If the present Parliament does nothing in the matter, it will be toi late for its successor to do anything, savi in tho shape of hurried legislation at th< last moment, and a most serious injury will have booome inflicted upon the staple industry of tho colony. It is all very well for those who have little or no knowledge ol rural industries to underrate the work of tnt pastoralism both as a source of national wealth, and as a means of directly 01 indirectly providing employment for large numbers of people ; but country residents know better. Now South Wales ia promi nently a pastoral country, and the pastoral industry will occupy a leading place for vory many years to come. Why then should it be sy...

CRICKET. [Newspaper Article] — The Dubbo Liberal and Macquarie Advocate — 31 March 1894

CRICKET. TES Mudgee papera are unanimous in praise cf tbs performance of the Dubbo representatives in the recent tnatohos between the Western Districts and the Metropolis. Hives is described ns a pretty and scientific bat, and a good field, while ¿abie's batting and bowling are highly eulogised. From one paper we learn that when Kable had mode 30, his score showed 3 fours, 3 threes, 3 twos, and three single?, and states that his performance has assured his recog nition in good crioket in future. Messrs. Kable and Hives speak highly of their treatment in Mudgee, and consider that much oredit is due to Hr. W. A. Ifarsb, the energetic am? obliging secretary of the Mudgee District Cricketing Associa tion. They state that Mr. H. M'Pherson is deservedly a favourite, both in cricketing and sooial oircles ; and altogether regard the tripas a pleasant experience. TEE NEW SCSOOL AT BUNGLEGUMBLE. [Newspaper Article] — The Dubbo Liberal and Macquarie Advocate — 31 March 1894

TEE NEW SCSOOL AT BUNGLE GUMS I E. ON Thursday a picnio was held in the schcol grounds at Bunglegumbie to celebrate tho opening of the nen school building which has lately been erected. For a long time complaint" had been made of the insufficient accommodation and unhealthy condition of the old school, and last year it became so bad that many parants withdrew thoit children from the school. The matter was taken up in the columns of th» LIBK&AL, and Mr. James Morgan promptly acted on the suggestions made therein» with the result that money was granted for the erection of a suitable building. No time was lost in carrying out the work, and the school is now conducted in a neat, roomy, and well-ventilated structure - a great contrast to the hovel formerly in use. The change is greatly appreciated by the parents of the children attending the school, and also by the teacher in charge, Miss Crewe, who has under her care some 40 pupils. On Thursday the weather waa all that could be ...

THE DUBBO LIBERAL AND MACQUARIE ADvOCATE. Saturday, March 31, 1894. [Newspaper Article] — The Dubbo Liberal and Macquarie Advocate — 31 March 1894

THE DUBBO LIBERAL AND MACQUARIE ADYOCATE. Sato rd«j-, Starch 31, 189«, THE decision arrived at by the Farmers' Conference, whioh met at Junee on Tuesday, that the policy to be adopted by the Farmers and Settlers' Associa tion of New South Wales should be protection, has been enthusi astically reoeived by the Sydney protectionist daily as pledging the whole of the members of the Association to the principles which the Star advooates. As justifying the vote alluded to, the paper mentioned quotes a number of benefits which it alleges will be derived by farm ing from tho introduction of protection, and after advancing the well-worn argument that the duties imposed by the present Government have added 25 per cent, to " farmers' tilled areas,'' alludes to the thriving develop ment in Victorian agriculture in the past ; but carefully abstains from comment on the present state of wheat-growers in that colony. The only " up-to-date " quotation in this respect is that «?while in îfew South Wa...
