DISTRICT NEWS. (FBOM OUK OWN COBKESPONDJUITS.) Carrathool. Great satisfaction is felt ac the grand result of the General Election, aud more esp'eci^lly at the magnificent and triumphant majority gained iu the Hay electorate by Mr Ashtou. We are also pr ud of the share that Carra thool had in it. The result of the poll here was dslitou 79, Newton 22, a seveu to three victory. We feel sure vre have chosen the best man and the best cause, aud that Mr Ashtou, as heretofore, will act and speak in a manner to make tlie Hay electorate proud of 1'iere representative. Election day passed off very quietly, indited. A rather novel match came off here the other day.Mr Jas Looby challenged Mr   Alf Pearce to a sheep killing match. SHEEP, JUDGE: MR.J. FULTON STEWARD, MERSSRS A.E HILL AND T.H ELWIN. [Newspaper Article] — Narandera Argus and Riverina Advertiser — 6 August 1895

SHEEP, Juno t Mb J. Foltoa Stbwabds : Mmbes ? 'ATft j^tot, ifitfT. H. E*wnr; The sheep section was not as well Ailed as in previous yearn, and many notable breeders o? sheep in the Riverioa distriot warn miasiOK. ^he consequence was that several of the pens were deserted. What the re* son is for the paucity of exhibit* it is dim «ult to eay. Some attribute the Iwk of patronage by floekmaa.tera to the d»tes of the show, which it is said clashal with the cheating season in these parts. Others assert that sheep breeders who were introduced to public gaze, by first obtaining p rises here no.w took upon the pace as rather too insignificant to exhibit, in fact beneath. their notice. This is ingratitude with a vengeance, and it is to be hoped there ia no truth in it, but merely a surmise. The fact, however, is appirent that for the tature, the committee recognises. that some station) owners, will, aa far as sheep exhibits are concerned, gve Narandera the cold shoulder.
