Robert Romaine, who confessed to complicity in the Inde pendence and Vindicator outrages in Colorado, was taken to the Kansas penitentiary from Topeka. He will serve an interminate sentence for robbery. Five Years' Sentence. A. E. Ferris, charged with forgery through which he defrauded the First National bank.was convicted, and, under a five years' sen tence, taken to the penitentiary. Count Okuma, the leader of the progressive party, warn ed the people to prepare for a long war, the date of the determination of which it was now impossible to fore tell. Another Gssser. The Kansas-Ohio Oil and Gas company brought in a 6,000,000 gasser ten miles north of Yates Center. For Good Roads. The good roads convention was held at Girard in con junction with the farmers' institute. Great interest was manifested by the farmers and townspeople, and a sub stantial good roads association has been organized for the county. Hun dreds of farmers were in town from all over the county. The court house was so crowded that an overflow meeting was held in the comt yard.' Win Gold Medal.
