The zoning board and council gave a unanimous approval for the zoning of 10 acres of land on the cor- ner of Murphy and Blackburn as C-l, commercial, and the remainder of the 43.95 acre tract as R-2 residential. Mayor John Herring called the meeting to order. THE SHCHSE SEnilllEI VOLUMN I NUMBER 3 MARCH 1976 FREE SHERIFF'S SUBSTATION AT SACHSE * * >, ' % DALLAS COUNTY'S SHERIFF SUB-STATION Sheriff Jones of the Dallas County's Sheriff Department announced the opening of a third Sub-Station March 15, 19 76. The new location is to be 6024 Hwy 78 in Sachse (formerly Bates Cafe). Sheriff Jones stated a Sub- Station is for the convenience of the public as his depart- ment is more readily avaliaole to respond to calls at less traveling time. The office will oe manned by three criminal investig- ators and one secretary, 8am to 5pm 7 days a week. There will be 6 uniformed patrolmen based out of the Sub-Station 24 hours a day 7 days a week. The Sachse Sub-Station will cover Sachse, Rowlett and Cen- terville areas. The other two locations of the Sub-Stations are in Cedar Hills and Seagoville. Andy Andrews, Chairman of the Utility Committee , reported the resignations of Marlin Downey and Jim Hutson. The Utility Comm- ittee recommened Henry Christner as one of the re- placements, and council approved. The City had requested through Planning and Zone- ing, that Mr. Ray William the developer of Sachse Ranch Estates, plat the balance of their undevelop- ed property. Due to a dis- agreement between the two, as to where sewer lines were to be installed, this item was tabled until the next meeting. Andy Andrews posed the question to the council as to why the Hilltop Meadows, being developed by Jim Toler, had been approved by the council, without the Utility Comm- ittee's recommendations. BOOSTER CLUB NEWS Booster Club activity will be steadily increasing, since the first sign-up was held on Saturday, February 21. There will be a second sign- up on Saturday, March 13, from 2-4 P.M. at the Community Center. Regular meeting time is the 4th. Monday of each month at 7:30 P.M. Field repairs and impro- vements have been under- way for three weeks. The old signs have been blocked out and new signs will socn be visible. WHO, WHAT, I WHERE AROUND SACHSE Milton and Jean Saizon of Sachse,and seven other cou- ples recently returned from an eight-day Hawaiian vaca- tion. They flew to Honulula via the luxuary jumbo jet Braniff 747, and then made cruises to Pearl Harbor, Oahu, Kauau and Waikiki Islands. This trip was a bonus gift for 20 years service given by their former boss, Dick Pickens,of Texas Aluminum Co. now known as Hommett Co. The other couples were Messieurs and Mesdames Marion Odell of Garland, Homer Page,Norris Akins, Fred Ellis,Roy McCassland, Sealy Summers and Dee Woody, all of Rockwall.... Mary Jo Killingsworth, Fredge Quain, Tommy Roan and Gordon Shattles were in attendance* First order of business was the passing of ordin- ance #216, which requires a fee of $100 for water and $100 for sewage to be paid on each acre of land being developed in the City.
