He conducted the " Times" with great ability throughout the contest between the Know-Nothing' and Democratic parties; and though we differed with him in opinion, his zeal for his party, and the force and spirit of his arguments com- manded our respect. „ We give below his characteristic explanation, in the last Times, for his future co-operation with theDe- mocrtic party, and suggest to those who want something rare, sensible and spicy, once a week, to intimate the wish to Ford, seconded by "a small persuader in the shape of a three dollar bill—on a good bank, and the thing will happen regularly in the handsome dress of the "Tex- as State Times."
