Shllckiian Accident ast Northcote. -o An accident of a shocking character happened on Thursday afternoo, last at llarris's brickworks, NortCheote. A workman named Alfred Williams was recently engaged to wheel bricks from the pressing macl.ino to the kiln. and probably wBas nOt aware of the caution issued against workmen interfering with the machinery. It happened, however, that whilst waitinsg his turn he observed that the belt connecting the main shaft with the grindstone was off the pulley, and in endeavouring to adjust it his hand became caught in tsse belting, which, winding round his armn to the shoulder, lifted hiin fromn his feet and carried himi over the shaft, it is calec lated, at least 50 times, as the shaft was driving at the rate of 100 na ,minute. ahd on the unfortunate man being re leased Ihe was fiund to be terribly mangled.
