ELSTEL RNWIC t a=i? . FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT. ALLOW me to congratulate the inhabit ants of thisrapidly increasing district upon' at last having ggot a paper of its own, and one, I hope, that will fairly and fearlessly 'open its columns to the promulgatian of all matters of local interest, irrespective of creed or country. The subject to which I wish particularly to refer, to for the present is'the Caulfield lhire Council election, cs pecially to that of the West Riding, at pre cent represented by DMr. William Millar, the president. For reasons best known to those, who have induced his rival, Mr. Le Page, to come forward to" opposehis ieelection, it has been thought necessary in the interests of the riding to contest the seat, and there! tore as an elector of it I wish to have my say. What has lir. Mtillar done to displease' his constituents? Ilas he failed to hobunob with his fellow councillors' as they -would have wished'? Or has he ?done anything that he ought not to have done...
