Sir, — There are signs of the pedestal being shaken that Henry Lee perched himself upon when he came out in the columns of your paper and personally attacked me in his over-anxiety to serve the member for Durham. When I used Henry Lee's own wea pons against him in my defence aud set to him the task of defending his positious, as I was forced to defend mine, he com pletely failed ; and after all he has written and the vile epithets he has used against me, he publicly retreats with au assurance that nobody begrudges me those positions, but he should have added, except Henry Lee. MAIDEN BROS.' REPORT. Fat Pigs. — The market yesterday was heavily supplied, 1500 boing yarded, porkers forming the bulk. The demand for prime sorts was good, and values Bhowed a big improvement on late rate?. Prime baconers were also, but rough and middling qualities in all sections were again very cheap. DISTRICT NEWS. (F, ?om our Correqmndcnln ) MILLER'S FOREST. The auuuai general meeting of Miller's Forest Drainage Union was held in the Oddfellows' Hall on Thursday evening, ^JVIay 30th. A very small attendance of ratepayers was present, Mr. Geo. King, v chairman of the board, presidiug. Mr. '' 'i T. E. Norley, secretary, read the annual report and balance-sheet. The former showed that the drains had been well - maintained, and were now iu very fair order.* „Oue of the directors (Mr. A. B. Williams) died during the year, his de cease being a loss to the union of valu able assistance. The balance-sheet gives \ rates collected ^88 13s gd, aud a pre vious balance of £22 19s 3d, making a total of ^11 1 13s 6d, and expenditure £61 16s 5d.
