The actual as compared with the com parative amount of revenue front ftll BOOrceB- for 188u, shews a deficit of £745,200, leaving a total deficiency of over two and a half millions. Mr. James Thompson, chief accountant in the Treasury, having been charged hy Mr Bibbs more than once with misleading him in regard to the state of the public finances, has indignantly repudiated it, *hich Mf. Dibbs called insolence. Mr Thompson com plamed to Sir Patrick Jennings, who asked Mr. Dibbs to make a distinct charge. Mr. Dibbs declined, and asserted his right to say what he pleased. Owing to the festivities of Christmas and New Year, and the re-aotion which gener ally follows we regret being unable to issue . the full paper yesterday, and now publish an extraordinary, giving the latest telegrams and local advertisements, aud trust that the public will not think themselves harshly treated, as they will allow, we feel sure, that pressmen are like other mortal men and want a holiday once a year, especially when the weather and atmosphere of late has been so very trying upon the constitution.
