As feed lot milch cows it is hardly sur passed by Tery good upland hay, and fcas to encounter only one serious draw back, namely it must bo out up fino, •sited and wet up with a little meal, bran, or oil cake of some sort, in order to get the full benefit. The necessity of spending 90 mneh labor upon it de-will tracts from its value, so that while in New England a farmer may perhaps afford to pay two-thirds what he would have to pay for hav, at tho Wost, where fair hay may be had for the outtfng and hauling, its value is less in proportion. Still, fad whole, it is highly relished by'all kinds of stock, and constitute the ehief living of tho young stock in winter over a largo portion of the Northern States.
