I have for the lint twenty years, beeu in lha babit of making a piece of new ground, ) early ; with a few exceptions, from a hall acre to five acres a jear. There has been a considt ruble portion of hickory saplings on i, and I always had them cut in the fore pnrt of the season, in order to get the brush dry to burn after harvest. And hav ing the best time to attend to it at that part of the season, I used to draw the wood off the clearing, and throw it on heaps, in or der to have it dry against winter.to haul it to market.
