"We had quite severe rain storm here Saturday night aud lasted all night, hut the weather was rather warm Sunday aud on Monday it turned quite cool. The Knights of the Golden Eagle paraded the promiuent streets here on Tuesday aud presented quite a tine appear ance. They were reviewed by the Mayor as they passed Independence Hail. Mr. A. H. There is considerable speculation here in regard to the cause of the alarming frequency of lynching parties m the state of Marylaud. Scarcely a month passes that a re port of a "Negro lynched" is not heralded abroad. The Gartners "bjurg affair about which several in nocent colored men came near los ing their lives is fresh in the minds of all. The dispatches this morn 1 ing bring reports from Calvert Co., of the lynching of a colored man charged with assaulting a little girl.
