The examiner designated by the conl roller of the currency to make an investigation of the affairs of the Chicago National banks, damaged by the late lire, reports that the losses will be in reality much less than was estimated, just after the tire, ami that un derline circumstances, the condition of the banks is excellent. All the members of the commission to 'consider the American and English claims are present. Eighteen cases have been filed, and a large number are in the hands of the English Consul, in the course of prepara tion. The commission will adjourn until December, and on reassembling, questions of international law will be discussed, 'and an "Agreement made lor guidance in the consid eration of special" cases.
