NORTHERN SATURDAY, JULY 17, 1875. " A FEW WORDS. In accordance with a belief that a'good newspaper would pay In Cheboygan, the Northern Tribune ha3 been establish ed. "Whether or not that belief is well founded time alone can prove. The publishing of a newspaper is very simi lar to any other class of business. If there is want felt in any community for a paper, and one is established and fill that want, it well be a success, if it does not, like any other business under the same circumstances, the enterprise must prove a failure. Upon this basis, and no other docs this journal de sire support and encouragement from the community, and just in proportion as its fills the wants of the public doc it expect to achieve success. In thi3 connection it may not be amiss to state that it is the intention of the manager to publish a newspaper, devoted especially to the local interests of Che boygan, city and county. A fair share of attention will also be paid to the advance ment of the interest...

fflERN TBI SATURDAY, JULY 24, 1875. OX7J5 I2I2IED1A1E DANGER. Thus far in its history Cheboygan has providentially escaped from any very ., fis.- rp,. T V luaaauuua mwi jl i uc, iiieie uitvo uccil a few fires where the loss has been consid erable, but they have been far between, rand then confined to a single building or locality. There has been no general fire. This Tery freedom from great loss, has produced a general apathy 1 upon this subject that may in the end result in an Immense destruction of property where in all our people will be the sufferers to a greater or less extent. To prove that we do not over estimate this danger, we have only to look over the daily fire record of the state. A day does not pas3 but that the telegrams give accounts of numerous fires in different sections of .the, state; the greater proportional loss, however, being in the northern por tion : where tho buildinsrs are more generally of wood, and . the fire protection the least. r NORTHERN TRIBUNE SATURDAY, JULY 31, 1875. ANAFOLOGY. The IJoktiiern Tribune appears this with a new heading, one which we expect will now become as much a part of the paper as the name itself. It wa3 our expectation to nave had it appear with the first issue, but owing to poor mail and express facilities it failed to ar rive on time and the paper had to be is sued with a temporary heading. V since ueciaing to establish a paper here it ha3 been the intention of the manager to make such a paper as would be of the greatest benefit to .. the pros perity of the place and the welfare of the people. A slight acquaintance with the situation of affairs convinced him that the greatest need of the place was proper advertising ; sending abroad information of the place and surrounding country, together with the advantages of its loca tion. When these are once fairly under stood the improvement of thi3 country is certain. Outside there is a very great lack of knowledge of Cheboygan. Very few pe...

NORTHERN TR1BUEN OATURDAY, AUGUST 7, 1875. CHER OYO AIT AS A SUMMER RESORT. CheboyaiTha3 naay natural ".advan tages, by which withproper management, it might be made a very popular summer resort. There is a very large class of people who desire to leave the heat and d ust and turmoil of the city home; for a short time during the summer, but who do not wish to undergo the bustle and ex citement of .the fashionable watering O places or summer resorts. Such as these will find Cheboygan as rrieasant a place as Ihey need to seek. It is a very quiet place, still not in any sense monotonous.
